2. Children who are born early usually need extra time to catch up to their full-term peers when it comes to developmental milestones.

   The early childhood years are critical ones; children begin to notice the world, explore, relate to others and begin to speak. This is often the best time to begin intervention because this is when many skills first appear. Most basic language, physical and social skills are learned before two years of age.

   There is a growing body of research to support the benefits of early intervention for children who have or are at high risk of having a developmental disability; which you quite correctly point out.

3. This is a fantastic site and dedicated to a very worthwhile cause, both our sons were prem (31 and 34 wks) and at 4 we already have a few concerns about our eldest, so this type of resource and support is essential, thank you x
